Reviews
The food landscape across Texas is dominated by Mexican restaurants for as far as the eye can see. So, finding a Guatemalan restaurant brought immediate excitement, as I'd never had the opportunity to sample food from that country. The restaurant is fairly large, with an amply sized dining area as well as a coffee shop, bakery, and small store. Upon my arrival it was pretty busy, with a wait of roughly 20 minutes. I figured surely this place had to be good! Once seated I was given a rather extensive menu that had a multitude of options I wasn't expecting. Let's start with the drinks; they have a large selection of hot and iced coffee beverages, from regular coffee to specialty flavored and seasonal lattes in addition to fruit flavored creations and smoothies. Essentially, whatever kind of coffee you fancy, they have it! The food menu is vast, and there are an abundance of traditional as well as American breakfast items ranging from enchiladas and chilaquiles to omelettes, French Toast, and pancakes. Although it wasn't on the menu, the server was accommodating and allowed me to get a mocha. After a long hard look, I decided on the eggs with loroco and cheese. The mocha was a creamy blend of chocolate and espresso that was quite satisfying, while the eggs came with plantains, refried black beans, salsa, and a slice of cheese. Wow, the infusion of flavor was something to behold! The eggs were perfect, while the black beans and plantains delivered a boost of savory satisfaction. The best part of it all? I left feeling satisfied, not uncomfortably bloated. If you're in the Dallas area and want to step outside your comfort zone, check this place out. I will be sure to
We arrive at this place and were surprised with complementary valet parking. We never thought the place was as big based on the pictures from other reviewers. The building is very ample and nicely decorated through and through. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I appreciate it. The nicely made menus with pictures that make you crave every single dish. This added to the delicious smell of sweet bread, freshly prepared at their bakery. Every single dish we ordered was nicely presented and tasted delicious. Plantains and black beans brought me back home in the south of Mexico. The spicy salsa is so delicious and authentic, I had never tried anything like it. This is the must visit place in Dallas.
This review focuses solely on the drinks and pastries. After dining nearby, we decided to take a stroll and stumbled upon San Martin's, where we enjoyed a delightful coffee experience. This charming market and brunch destination instantly reminded us of our time in Puerto Vallarta. Adjacent to the café is a spacious park and cemetery, allowing natural light to filter through the numerous glass windows that grace the high ceiling of the dining area. The living walls that adorn the upper part of the interior enhance the feeling of being connected to nature, creating a truly stunning environment. On one side, there's a large bakery brimming with pastries, many of which we recognized from our visits to bakeries in Mexico. Their drink menu features a variety of intriguing options. I opted for the Bianco E Nero, which was creamy, sweet, and quite unique. I genuinely can't wait to return and enjoy a meal here. The atmosphere is one-of-a-kind, and the lively crowd adds to the charm.
San Martin is a delightful place for many occasions. I stopped in for dessert and coffee on a Saturday night . There was no wait and plenty of tables. My server Isabel was nice and attentive. I enjoyed the Rustic Apple Tart a la mode and a white chocolate latte. The tart was warm and buttery, the apple chucks were the perfect size. I would definitely recommend getting it with ice cream. I will be visiting San Martin again. The brunch looked delicious. PS- check out the bakery (great prices)!
We went here on a second date and loved the variety of baked goods + the lunch menu. It's a nice open space and full of natural light. The servers were nice and the food was great.
